Updates

Regardless of what you have heard about the changes to the BBS (Bulletin Board System), you will still continue to send your billing on disk to the same address. You will continue to receive from ETS your remittance file via mail. When we are notified of any changes we will pass on the information and will keep our website up to date as information becomes available.

Also we recommend periodically checking the MassHealth website at http://www.mass.gov/masshealth for news and updates.

Error message  “Software Not Properly Installed”

Many of you are finding that you cannot access the ETS software after your computer has had a Norton Anti-virus update. This occurs because version 9 now includes a scan of A:(Floppy). To turn this feature off, under settings,  …Advanced  …Floppies, uncheck box where it says “Scan for Virus.”

ETS is no longer reviewing all the 997 files. If you receive a 997 Rejection, be sure to call us.

We are now receiving very few 997 rejections. Our latest software version is now trapping for the common errors. It is very important to be aware of reasons why files are rejected by MassHealth. In many files, the reason for the rejection of claim lines is due to avoidable data errors. As you know, they are now generating a “997” e-mail file for every file they receive. When you completed your MassHealth Trading Partner Agreement, you designated the e-mail address where the 997 was to be sent. In many cases you designated ETS. We strongly recommend that you call the HIPAA Support Center (888-848-5068) to be sure that YOUR E-Mail Address is on file with MassHealth, so that you will also be notified.

Reasons for rejection are consumers without first or last names, contact information missing or data not formatted correctly (gender in lower case or Date of Birth not in dd/mm/yyyy format). The latter occurs when you do not enter data correctly and mouse off the field. Do NOT use any punctuation in the Address lines.

Paper Form-9s still use the old place of service codes!
